Whether you are looking for a huge, city-wide event or a smaller community festival, Charlotte offers plenty to do for July 4th festivities. In order to help you navigate through the many offered activites, I created a list of events happening in our area on the 3rd and 4th. So grab your friends, your family, and your red, white, and blue as you celebrate the fourth with one of the many events our city offers!
Symphony at South Park The holiday events kick off on July 3rd with Symphony Park at Southpark. The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra Summer Pops series runs all summer long, but the July 4th weekend is always a highlight. This star-spangled celebration of American Independence features all the patriotic favorites–“America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America,” and more–plus a “Back to the Fifties” medley and some of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits. Spirited conductor Albert-George Schram will lead the orchestra (and the audience) through all five programs. Gates open at 5 pm, with the prelude performance at 7 pm, and the symphony performance at 8:15 pm.
U.S. National Whitewater Fourth of July Festival Show your patriotism and break out your red, white and blue at the USNWC‘s 4th of July Festival, a two-day celebration featuring outdoor adventure, live music and spectacular firework displays. Musical performances on the Belmont Abbey Island stage will take place in the afternoon and evening, followed by a stunning firework display over the world’s largest manmade whitewater river. Bring out your blanket or chairs, pick out a great viewing spot and enjoy the show.
July 4th Spectacular One of the biggest Fourth of July festivities takes place in Uptown Charlotte. The Charlotte Knights stadium partners with Team USA and Skyshow to create a night of patriotism, baseball, and fireworks! The stadium will host Team USA v. Team Cuba. After the game, the stadium hosts a patriotic flag ceremony followed by the most amazing choreographed fireworks in the Southeast! Gates open at 5 p.m. for the game, but make sure to come early for the SkyShow street party. The street party includes live music, food, drinks, inflatables, crafts for the kids, carnival rides, games, prizes, and more!
Lake Wylie, SC 3990 Charlotte Highway Lake Wylie, SC Looking for a firework display to enjoy with the family? Lake Wylie has you covered. Every Fourth of July, Lake Wylie provides a very large annual display that has become a family tradition for many. The best viewing is from the area around the Buster Boyd Bridge that crosses over the lake. There’s the boat landing and several restaurants, all of which will provide excellent viewing. However, make sure you get there early as the event is very popular.
Harrisburg 4th of July Celebration(Friday and Saturday) 4 p.m. to 10:30pm. Live music, and then fireworks at 10pm.Looking for a fun parade? Harrisburg hosts a day of fun activities. The celebration features a parade that will begin at the intersection of Highway 49 and Caldwell Road and travel north down highway 49 to the intersection of Highway 49 and School Circle. Following the parade, relax with the family enjoying live music while you wait for the firework show at 10 pm.
Indian Trail 4th of July Festival Indian trail also hosts a parade and festival. The event includes the annual parade, as well as a watermelon eating contest. The winners of the contest will be crowned the king and queen of Indian Trail! Come out and see this annual event.
Waxhaw 4th of July Festival Looking to celebrate what America is all about? Come to Waxhaw! Each Independence Day begins with a hometown parade in the historic downtown. Announcers cover the entire parade route to make sure that you hear all of the details surrounding the fun entries passing by. In the afternoon, make your way to the annual beach party for delicious food, live music and more. When the sun goes down, the sky lights up! Feel American pride as you watch fireworks set to patriotic music. Go home knowing that you celebrated America’s birthday in style!
